About OpenInferno
OpenInferno was founded on 21st August 2007 by Lewis Theobald and was originally a website designed to create AEF modifications and themes, commonly referred to as Horisonz Modding.
During the winter of 2007, Lewis joined a development work-experience team and after this started coming up with new ideas that he wished to develop. At the same time, in the early breach of 2008, Mark Lewis, who was also a developer at AEF noticed and supported the work of Lewis where it was both agreed that by working as a team they could produce a lot more efficient results due to the working styles that both expressed. From this came the birth of OpenInferno, at first it was primarily dedicated to providing customised AEF themes and web templates for clients, which later adapted into solely providing web templates. However, during the working period, plans and ideas were proposed; ideas such as OIBlos, Streetzone Mafia, TheIglooForum, Millpond & OIPages. During these planning stages, Joseph Herman joined OpenInferno, evaluating all designs that we produced and working on Furrewebs. The first project that was completed was Streetzone Mafia. The project was in development for 5 months and was developed by Lewis. Originally the idea started out very small with very limited features and a different theme, however after a burst of growth, Streetzone Mafia expanded into a fully incorporated AJAX mafia online game and each round put the chance for the players to win £100. The project went live on 13th September 2008 and following the launch the project has undergone large-scale improvements updating the presentation and core. The project, aided by Joseph was the base structure for the OpenInferno framework. During 2009, OpenInferno was contacted by companies/organisations such as Wirral Grammar School for Boys, Firebird Photography & PrettyBoyBeats Production Industry. The OpenInferno framework was transformed into the OI-SiteBuilder software, allowing the easy installation of extensions to customise how the software was used on each individual project. Upon completion of over 150 extensions, the OI-SiteBuilder framework was completed and is now dispatched with every web based project that OpenInferno manages. OpenInferno is also hosting the Summer of Colour event, providing a chance for people interested in web design to learn the ropes. |
